Media Statements
Sorry, I'm going to put up my recent media statements because this will probably never happen again in my lifetime so I'm going to soak up the glory and recognition for five minutes and if my children ever decide to take an interest in their mum's achievements they are recorded here ha! :)

Happy Deaf Birthday to Me!
This time of each year I celebrate (or attempt to, my two teenage sons don't do 'celebrations') the day I went totally deaf. I call it my Deaf Birthday. I think it's important to acknowledge the positive things that came from losing my hearing instead of dwelling on the negative aspects. So what are those good things you ask? Well top of my list would be the new friends I made - other deaf people with and without cochlear implants. I've met so many wonderful inspiring people that I now couldn't imagine my life without them.
It also provided me an alternate view of the world which I find interesting - a deaf person's perspective is so different from that of a hearing person (even a partially hearing person). I also have a better understanding of what people go through when living with a disability in a society designed for those without disabilities.
I've also had opportunities at work - developing an Auslan (sign language) course that's now been running for four years.
Of course the advantages of being able to sleep through a storm at night go without saying!
So happy Deaf Birthday to me - and to celebrate Australian Hearing have published a little article I wrote which you can find here :)

Are you keen to see more Cochlear TV? If you answered yes then you're in luck! Here is episode 2 (and you thought I was only a one episode wonder) of Cochlear TV.
In other news, I finally got recognised last week! I walked into a class of tertiary students at work and one of the students put up her hand and asked me if I had been in a movie. I'm not joking, it finally happened. She had been watching "my movie" and in the ten seconds of which I star she had recognised me. It was bound to happen one day .........
If you haven't seen the movie yet, here is a clip of the best part ;)

Cochlear TV
One of my dreams when I was a little girl was to be the host of a TV show. Yes I know - I had lofty ambitions but it seems those dreams weren't so lofty after all. This week Cochlear released episode 1 of their new TV channel - Cochlear TV - and guess who is the host????!!!!!! Check it out here Cochlear TV on YouTube
